The mission of our school library program is to provide a safe environment, promote exploration, creative thinking and problem solving: students and staff are active users and creators of new concepts and information to become lifelong learners.
I believe that exploration and collaboration are the keys to successful lifelong learners. The library is the core of the school and provides a wide variety of resources for students and staff to connect the classroom and the real world. All teachers must know the library is there to help in any way; integrating core subject areas into the library allows students to continue to grow and expand their thinking.
I believe books allow students to learn about different cultures and beliefs. Reading also will enable students to learn and explore things they may never experience personally. By providing a variety of materials, students can think critically and access new ideas and information.
Technology is always adapting and changing but is critical to lifelong learners. I believe it is essential to provide equal access to all learners. Doing so gives all students the same opportunities, encourages digital learning, and offers engaging ways for students to locate and evaluate information.
The George Washington Carver Elementary school library is the heart of the school where students and staff can collaborate, explore, and create using technology and printed materials. It provides a wide variety of text that focuses on diversity and encourages multiple perspectives and ideas.
