Hello!
I am Mrs. Kimberly Plagge, the Fifth Grade Math teacher at Piney Point Elementary School. Teaching is my true passion, and I am proud to be an educator of our next generation of young Americans. Since learning is so important to me, I’ve built upon my own education by adding to my business degree a Master’s in Education as well as a second master’s degree in Reading Education. I've taught for more than 20 years, and had the opportunity to teach in all but second grade level (so far).
Originally from Georgia, I enjoy living in Southern Maryland with my family. I met my husband at Auburn University and we love SEC football. My husband is retired from the Navy. We have three children who are in college at Auburn-- and are all three are Piney Point graduates! As a parent, I take pride in sharing that I educate your child the way I would want my own children taught.
The students and I work to become a “school family," and it is built on a healthy growth model. Our goal is to seek optimal development for all. Every student has a job, and they will use this opportunity to build self-worth and responsibility by contributing to our School Family in meaningful ways. Some examples include wishing others well, recognizing kindness, breathing calmly, valuing mathematical mistakes, connecting with each other, and developing a growth mindset.
I firmly believe that teachers, parents, and students should work together as a team, and I welcome any feedback that makes the learning environment a positive one for everyone.
