String Orchestra

3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students may sign up to play an instrument in strings class! 

Students and Parents: Please take some time to learn more about the instrument choices for elementary string orchestra by clicking each link below. 

As you explore, please keep in mind: 

• String instruments are available in different sizes. Please reference this sizing chart. 

• Your student will need other materials with their instrument. Each instrument's required materials are listed on its page on this website. 

• Instrument rental options through SMCPS are limited.  Instruments can be rented from local music stores that will provide repairs as needed. 

• Please read the considerations for each instrument to find the right choice for your child.  

• Cellos and string basses cannot be transported on SMCPS buses. They require parent drop-off and pickup from school.
