Band FAQ

What bands are there at Chopticon? 

At CHS, we offer the symphonic band, concert band, percussion ensemble, and marching band. There are several additional performance opportunities such as honor bands, jazz band club, musical pit orchestra, and solo and ensemble! 

What band should I sign up for as a freshman? 

If you play a woodwind or brass instrument, you should sign up for Concert Band (Band 1). All freshman percussionists should sign up for percussion ensemble. 

Can I take band during the day and do marching band? 

Yes! You can take concert or symphonic band, or percussion ensemble during the day, and still do marching band afterschool! 

Can I do band and tech center? 

Yes, usually it can work out in your schedule with careful planning with your counselor and Ms. Badovski. 

What is AVPA? 

AVPA is the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts. You can audition for the program when you are in 8th grade. Please click here for more info! 

Does band cost money? 

Concert and symphonic band, and percussion ensemble are FREE! There is a fee for marching band, but we are always willing to make something work out!
