First-Time and Senior Fellows Module 2: Knowledge Building WebQuest Activity
Average Completion Time = 2-3 Hours
Everyone in the fellowship has a different level of background knowledge on key environmental topics such as ecological overshoot, climate change, and environmental and climate justice. Therefore, this task is an invitation to do some knowledge building at whatever starting point is best for you.
1) Explore Webquests
For EACH WebQuest, spend 45 minutes exploring resources in any order you want. You do not need to look at every resource and are encouraged to start by scanning through the entire document first before choosing where to start. Note that some resources you might glance through quickly, while others you might spend more time reading carefully.
2) Reflect and Respond
After spending time researching with each WebQuest, submit a response here to the following:
Define each of the following terms in your own words: i) “Ecological Overshoot”, ii) “Climate Change”, iii) “Environmental/Climate Justice”
What are 4-5 facts from a variety of resources that struck you as important or surprising?
What do you want to know more about after doing some preliminary research?
What is your emotional reaction to the information provided in these resources?
What are you most concerned and/or excited about when thinking about teaching about these topics with your students?
