Professional Development
SMCM Programs
The Professional Development Committee of the Staff Senate, in partnership with other offices on campus, sometimes offers workshops on a variety of topics (e.g., Business Writing, Time Management, Leadership at Every Level, Protecting Yourself on Social Media, MS Excel)
Take advantage of the Tuition Remission Program for Full-time Staff of SMCM to attend Maryland Community Colleges. Full-time employees who occupy permanent positions are eligible to enroll in a maximum of six (6) credits per semester at a Maryland Community College. Spaces for this program are limited. See https://www.smcm.edu/staff/professional-development/ for details.
Be aware of the other great tuition waiver and tuition exchange benefits for full-time college employees, spouses, and dependents!
Faculty and Staff occupying permanent positions are eligible to take no more than two courses or eight credit hours of fall and spring semester credit with full tuition remission.
After 2 years of continuous faculty or staff employment in a permanent position
Partners and dependents are eligible for 100% tuition waiver
Dependent children may attend any Maryland public four-year higher education institution with 50% tuition remission, but only if the major program is not offered at the home institution
