We take steps to ensure that there are effective procedures in place to protect children in line with current Safeguarding best practice. As a result, we do not permit current SMART staff to babysit for children who attend our settings.
We have a duty to safeguard all children and adults whilst on our premises and whilst in the care of our staff. If staff are caring for children outside of nursery/pre-school hours or premises, we cannot guarantee the safety of children or staff, against potential allegations, which can have a significant impact on the operation of our settings and our reputation. Further, outside our setting we cannot enforce our duty of confidentiality, which staff must adhere to as part of their terms of employment with us.
All SMART employees are aware of this policy and therefore should it become known that individuals have agreed or arranged to babysit for children who attend our settings, it will be deemed as a breach of the terms and conditions of employment.
