Fellowship

The tenure of fellowship will be till the end of the 4th year of PhD for students from integrated courses and till the end of the 5th year of PhD for B.Tech., (or equivalent) students. For students selected through the lateral entry channel, the PMRF scholarship and obligations will continue only for the remainder of the student’s stay in the doctoral program. No retrospective payment will be made.

Contingency Fund

Apart from the fellowship, each scholar would be eligible for a research grant of Rs. 2 Lakhs per year (total of Rs 10 Lakhs for five years). PMRF scholars are not eligible of other Insititute funding for travel/contingency.

Teaching Assistantship

PMRF scholars are required to do regular institute TA work of 8 hours per week, which should include one hour of teaching activity outside the Institute. The guidelines require the fellows to be involved in teaching activities outside our Institute (in a neighbourhood Government / Government-aided ITI/Polytechnic/Engineering College) for at least one hour per week. For example, they could deliver a 1 hour lecture to students at an appropriate College on relevant topics. The scholars are required to interact with the students at least once a week.

The additional TA work should be approved by the guide every month.


PMRF TA Duty - Circular


Annual Review

There will be an annual review for the PMRF scholars. The candidates would continue to avail the fellowship in the next year only if their performance is found satisfactory by the review committee. The review will be a rigorous process, done by a committee constituted at the National Level. If the deliverables are not achieved, the fellowship will be brought down to the institutional fellowship level or even discontinued.
