Required and Recommended Syllabus Components

All SLU courses must offer a syllabus that contains certain elements about the course, instructor, and policies (personal and university-mandated). 

Please refer to this document for a non-course-specific syllabus template which contains the required and recommended statements for the University, the Department of English, and the Writing Program. Sample syllabi from previous courses are also available below!*

*Note: those sample syllabi will likely not have the most updated boilerplate statements. Please ensure that you use the correct document for accurate and up-to-date statements.

Submitting Your Syllabus

All Writing Program instructors are required to submit their syllabi to the Department of English at the beginning of each semester. Send your materials to englishadmin@slu.edu and CC both the WP Coordinator and Assistant!

ENGL 1500 Sample Syllabi from Prior Semesters

Since the 1500 Syllabus will have a new curriculum structure this semester, it should look pretty different from some you may have seen in the past. Check back next semester for some new examples!
