Ranken Jordan is a licensed private, not-for-profit, hospital providing high quality specialized care, intensive rehabilitation, and interdisciplinary treatment to children with medical needs and support services for their families.
Children are referred from other pediatric healthcare facilities and children's hospitals. Ranken Jordan treats children from 2 weeks through 21 years of age with complex medical problems who require 24 hour nursing care and/or rehabilitative services while transitioning from the hospital to home. Visits are scheduled for Monday or Thursday morning. We encourage all students (M1-M4) interested in visiting to let us know and share Mon/Thur AM availability. This active observation experience has been highly endorsed by prior students.
The team at Ranken Jordan would appreciate if scheduled students who run into an emergency or an unexpected delay (Eg. car not starting, traffic accident) notify them (Sonja Hultz 314-872-6430)

Clerkship students. In the past, a visit to Ranken Jordan was part of the clerkship for all students. Due to COVID-19 spots are now more limited. Clerkship students are scheduled for visits based on a combination of requests (intake form) and clinical schedules.

Planned Schedule
9AM on Mondays and Thursdays. Check in at the front reception desk to obtain a visitor pass. You will need to show photo identification and to sign a "Confidentiality Statement for Medical Students,"
~9:00/9:10AM. Tour of hospital: the therapy department, pediatric health related services department, and clinical areas.
~9:15AM. Bedside rounds with an attending physician
~11:00AM. Team rounds where patients and their care plans are discussed with nurse practitioners, physiatrists, nurses, therapists, pharmacists, social service, etc.

From I-270: Take I-270 North or South to Dorsett Road. Go East on Dorsett Road for 1.7 miles. Ranken Jordan will be on your left past Fee Fee Road.
From Lindbergh/HWY 67: Take Lindbergh North or South to the Midland Blvd./Dorsett Rd. Exit. Go West on Dorsett Road for .3 miles. Ranken Jordan will be on your right past Adie Road.
From Cardinal Glennon: Take I-44 East, merge onto I-55 North, merge onto I-70 (exit 209B) towards Kansas City, merge onto US HWY 67 S. Lindbergh Blvd (exit 235A) to Midland Blvd, turn right on Midland. Midland becomes Dorsett Road. Ranken in on the right.
