In spring 2025, Saint Louis University initiated a significant cleanup of Panopto recordings for the first time since Panopto was implemented. This work was necessitated by a new licensing structure adopted by Panopto, which now includes storage limits. The plans for this project were endorsed by the University's Learning Technologies Advisory Committee (which has faculty representation from each school/college) and by SLU's Academic Deans and Provost.
This site serves as a key resource for the SLU community. Here, you will find: background information to explain why the project is needed; resources (including instruction guides) to support you in managing your Panopto content; and a hub for Phase 2 communications shared with the SLU community. You also will find archived content from the now-completed Phase 1, including all Phase 1 communications, the timeline for Phase 1 activities, the key action items all Panopto users were instructed to take, and a set of FAQs for Phase 1.
Phase 1: Spring-Summer 2025 -- now complete
Reduce the amount of stored Panopto content SLU maintains. We must reduce our stored content by more than 50% in the near term.
Phase 2: Fall 2025 and beyond
Continue to reduce stored content. Re-institute file retention processes to regularly reduce stored content on an ongoing basis. We must reduce our stored content further as we approach contract renewal in June 2026.
