Collaborative effort of DOST and SLSU for the development of alternative nipa sweetener. The AVP highlighted the initiative on the partnership of both agencies to discover and developed the full potential of nipa palm to produce “nipa sweeteners”. In addition, its contribution to protect environment and as alternative to coconut industry which much affected by the infestation to support the scale insect. Finally, to showcase the livelihood opportunities of the technology to local farmers.
Roadmap on R&D project initiative and innovation of SLSU Infanta Campus for the Development of alternative Nipa Sweeteners. The video highlighted the significance of Nipa Palm for the production of nipa sweeteners challenges and experience during the R&D phase, product development and socio-economic benefits of the new technology among nipa famers.
The AVP highlighted the importance of R&D initiative of SLSU and DOST to develop new product “nipa sweeteners” also, to explore the potential of technology for commercialization to create market for both local and export to generate more livelihood opportunities to localities that has potential for nipa as an emerging industry in Quezon province.
