STEP ONE
Formal Observation
STEP 1: Getting a glimpse into your classroom is crucial in supporting your work! Your Supervisor and an ASL Language Specialist will observe a class of your choice and provide you with feedback.
Click on the link below for the authorization form.
Once the formal observation concludes, your Supervisor and the ASL Language Specialist will send you an email with feedback attached in PDF form.
TIME FRAME: At minimum- 2 weeks will be allocated to complete STEPS 2, 3 & 4
STEP TWO
Classroom Interpreting Sample
STEP 2: Now, armed with more guidance, you are ready to create a five-minute sample of your work.
Gain permission to film in your classroom:
VIDEO RECORDING- AUTHORIZATION FORM
Select a class where you can showcase your work. Take into consideration the insight that comes from your formal observation.
DIs please try to include the HI feed in your video recording.
Additionally, use this time to ask teachers, HES, admin for letters of feedback to upload to your APR Questionnaire in Step 4.
STEP THREE
ASL-English Interpreting Sample (DIs)
DEAF INTERPRETERS - STEP 3: Using the platform, GoReact, you will create a sample of your skills and how you'd feed your hearing team. This will be standardized source material that all Deaf interpreters are reviewed on.

HEARING INTERPRETERS - STEP 3: Using the platform, GoReact, you will create a sample of your ASL-English skills. This will be standardized source material that all interpreters are reviewed on.
*Only applicable to hearing interpreters*
STEP FOUR
Annual Performance Review (APR) Questionnaire
Annual Performance Review (APR) Questionnaire
Fill us in on your education background, training, professional memberships, workshop list, upload feedback letters, etc!
You will also provide the link of your classroom interpreting in this Questionnaire.
FINAL STEP
Annual Performance Review Meeting
Once the above STEPS 1-4 are completed, your Supervisor will be in touch with you about dates/times for your official performance review meeting. Be sure to revisit your 5min classroom sample and your ASL-English work on GoReact prior to your discussion.
Once a date/time has been confirmed, you will receive a copy of the performance review form on payroll. Please wait to get your Supervisor's scores and comments before adding your own.
When you have completed your scores and comments, remember to click SUBMIT.
