FFA Creed Speakers

Harper Rorex was the first male student to recite the FFA Creed and Alyson Woodard was the first female student to recite the FFA Creed. Both students will have their FFA dues paid as a reward for their hard work.

Sloan-Hendrix Students Compete at Lawrence County Fair

Several students from Sloan-Hendrix competed in the Lawrence County Livestock Show and Rodeo held during the week of August 12-17.

Letting Everyone Know That Everyone Counts

Several Sloan-Hendrix staff members wore their new "Everyone Counts" T-shirts on Friday, August 16. "Everyone Counts" is the back to school theme this year at Sloan-Hendrix. Vice Principal Melanie Spence says that this theme was chosen because, "We are all accountable and responsible and should have a voice at the table. Everyone is important and matters." No matter how different we are, at Sloan-Hendix everyone counts.

First Day Assembly

2019-2020 School Year Begins with Assembly at Sloan-Hendrix High School

The school year began in the Bill McCurley Gymnasium on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 for Sloan-Hendrix High School students. Mr. Moore welcomed the students and went through handbook changes before breaking up into classes for photos and locker assignments. Following the assembly, students followed an abbreviated schedule for the rest of the first day of school. Have a great year!

School Year Begins with Workshops for Teachers

Mr. Rorex welcomed the faculty and staff of Sloan-Hendrix to the 2019-2020 school year on Thursday, August 1st. Teachers spent many hours over the summer and the week prior to the first day of school preparing for the year to follow. Workshops included data disaggregaton and curriculum alignment, active shooter training, and literacy interventions. Open House is set for Thursday, August 8 with the First Day of School being on Tuesday, August 13.
