Glenlee Primary School and Nursery Class
Children thrive on praise, success, recognition and affection; behaviour, learning and relationships are affected by low self-esteem. Our staff and children work together to create a climate of mutual respect and co-operation using the Six Principles of Nurture firmly rooted in attachment-informed, trauma-sensitive practice;
Children's learning is understood developmentally
The classroom offers a safe base
The importance of nurture for the development of wellbeing
Language is a vital means of communication
All behaviour is communication
The importance of transition in children's lives
In Glenlee we focus on building positive relationships, promoting positive behaviours and ensuring that there are consistent strategies embedded across the school, differentiation is applied to these strategies to ensure that the needs of all pupils are met. We are also aware of the language that we use, communication is clear and explicit to ensure an understanding for all. Our staff are ‘relationships role models,’ modelling positive communication, behaviours and empathy.
