Nomination Scholarships
NOMINATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Recipients are chosen by a faculty committee.
There are no applications for the following scholarships.
These scholarships will be awarded to students during the SKHS Senior Awards and Scholarships Night.
ACADEMIC DECATHLON AWARD: presented to seniors who have been key members of the academic decathlon team.
DAN J. ROBINSON MEMORIAL AWARD: presented to a student demonstrating achievement commensurate with ability in any of the following: automotive programs, electronics, woodworking, technical drawing or drafting, marine technology.
ESTHER B. SHANNON SCHOLARSHIP: presented to a student who has demonstrated creativity and excellence in English studies.
HOWARD & LILLIAN WALSH SCHOLARSHIP TRUST AWARD: $1500 awarded in equal amounts of $250 to six South Kingstown students who plan to further their education in college, business, trade or other schools.~ Selection is based on concise career goals, commitment, academic record, and need.
JOSHUA MARTIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: established in honor of Joshua Martin, a Narragansett High School graduate, class of 2020. Joshua was employed at Extreme Airsoft RI, and the owners have created a scholarship who meet the following criteria: student who has taken interest in the welfare of others, demonstrates financial need, and planning to attend a two year or four year college/ university, technical program or apprenticeship, or military service.
JOSIE FOX MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: awarded to a senior who has made significant contributions to the school and community through leadership, strong connections to the student body and faculty.
MISSY STARK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: awarded to a senior who is a key member of the senior class and has made a significant impact on the school community.
PRINCIPAL LEADERSHIP AWARD: awarded to a senior based on leadership and service to the school community.
RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE BOOK AWARD: given to a student who will be attending Rhode Island College in September and who has shown criteria of scholarship, leadership and achievement.
RHODE ISLAND LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR’S LEADERSHIP AWARD: awarded to a student who has shown leadership by planning and organizing charitable or educational activities, motivating other students to excel or achieve, excelling in school-sponsored clubs, sports, and other activities, demonstrating a positive attitude, and maintaining good grades.
RHODE ISLAND SECRETARY OF STATE’S LEADERSHIP AWARD: recognizes one male and one female student who demonstrate the qualities of good scholarship, leadership and achievement.
SOUTH KINGSTOWN HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY MEDIA SPECIALIST’S AWARD: awarded to two students who exemplify the joy of reading and a love of learning.
SOUTH KINGSTOWN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL AWARD: given to high school seniors who have been contributing members of the student council for all four years.
SOUTH KINGSTOWN HIGH SCHOOL TRANSITION AWARD: awarded to a student who continually persevered through challenges, has an understanding of self and has demonstrated significant growth in academics and independence.
STEM SCHOLARSHIP: awarded to a student who is planning on attending a post-secondary education in STEM related fields. Awarded, but not limited to, a female student who has the ability, dedication and maturity to be successful in STEM studies.
TIMOTHY J. RISHTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Given to a high school student pursuing a degree in visual arts or music at a two-year or four- year college or university.
WILLIAM ROSENGREN MEMORIAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP: Given to a senior who has been actively involved with the high school music program.
