Local Scholarships

The 2024 Local Scholarships are now closed.  2025 scholarships will be posted in January 2025.  


These scholarships are donated by local civic organizations, businesses, and families and will be awarded to students during the SKHS Senior Awards and Scholarships Night.



1SG P. Andrew McKenna Jr. Memorial Scholarship 


The 1SG P. Andrew McKenna, Jr. Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior in the State of Rhode Island. The applicant must be a legal U.S. Citizen, a resident of the state of Rhode Island, who has been accepted into an accredited two or four year college or university as a full time student. Demonstrated academic excellence with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Alice Sullivan Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a graduating female senior who is a member of a varsity sport.

Alexandra Broches and Hera Gallery Visual Arts Scholarship

Awarded to a graduating senior from South Kingstown High School to use in furthering their education in the field of art. Students should be planning on majoring in art or an art related field.

Awarded to a student pursuing a career in the field of natural resources.

Augusta Hazard Scholarship

Awarded to a senior accepted to a post-secondary school. Based on academics, school and community involvement.

Bob Conway Memorial Scholarship

Each year, Bob’s family gives an award to a South Kingstown High School senior in his memory and in celebration of the values he held dear… among them was the idea that the life worth living is the one approached with lightness, passion, spontaneity and joy.

Brit Piez Scholarship

Awarded to two seniors who participated in SKHS Varsity Baseball or Softball Program.

Centreville Bank Robert O. Pare College Scholarship

The Robert O. Pare Scholarship is presented to local high school students who are dedicated to making a difference through community service. Each year, two (2) recipients are awarded individually a $5,000 scholarship.

Chris Collins Memorial Scholarship

Conrad-Nestor-Walsh Memorial Scholarship

The Conrad-Nestor-Walsh scholarships will be awarded to students who are entering post-secondary training and who demonstrate a combination of academic achievement and financial need.

Must be a child/grandchild/dependent of a current South County Hospital employee.

Daughters of American Revolution Susan B. Wilson Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to resident of South Kingstown who has shown achievement in their school studies and community service.

Desiree Mesolella Art Scholarship

Two scholarships awarded to graduating senior who plans to pursue a degree in the art field.

Edward Saffron Scholarship

Awarded to child or grand child of South Kingstown Elks Lodge 1899 member.

Elks Legacy Awards Scholarship

To apply go to elks.org and click on Our Programs and Scholarships.  Scholarships are available to children and grandchildren of ELKS members. Eligibility requirements are posted on the website.  Applicant must apply online.

Ellen and Albert Smith Memorial Scholarship

A substantial, four-year renewable scholarship is offered to seniors who are SK residents and who are applying to a college or university.  This scholarship is based on academic achievement and financial need.

Friends of South Kingstown Park and Recreation Scholarship

The applicant must have participated in recreation sponsored programs and completed community service hours for the recreation department.

James D. Wright Scholarship

 Given to an SK senior who has shown good school citizenship and demonstrated financial need.  The award is given in honor of James D. Wright, a past principal and the first athletic director of SKHS

Janet Berry Memorial Music Scholarship 

$2000.00 scholarship given to a graduating senior planning to pursue a degree in the field of music: education, performance, composition or technical production.

John Michael Crowley Memorial Scholarship 

Awarded to an SKHS senior who is attending a 2 or 4-year post-secondary school.  Preference will be given to students who have overcome obstacles or challenges.

Jason D. Foreman Memorial Scholarship 

This $1000.00 scholarship is available to graduating seniors.  Priority will be given (but not limited) to graduating high school students who enroll in a trade or technical school program of instruction, or equivalent.  Graduating high school students who enroll in a community college, college, university, etc. are also encouraged to apply.

Katie DeCubellis Memorial Foundation Scholarships

The following scholarships will be given to a student pursuing an education in a technical program or in a two or four- year college program.

Kent Washington Association of REALTORS®

The KWAOR Foundation, Inc., the charitable arm of the Kent Washington Association of REALTORS® is offering a $1,000 scholarship.

Any full-time senior attending a Kent County or Washington County high school and resides in either the Kent County or Washington County in the State of RI. This scholarship is based on a combination of financial need, scholastics, and extra-curricular activities.

KiKi's Garden Aspire Higher Arts Scholarship

This scholarship is in memory of Krista Weller Burns by honoring individuals who wish to pursue a career in the Arts.

Must be a RI High School senior year with a passion for the arts and be planning a career in an art concentration.

Kiki's Garden Scholarship in Honor of Zachary Jamison Weller

Awarded to a RI high school senior who is pursuing a degree at a 2-year or 4-year program and is coping with or has overcome a mental or emotional health challenge.

Leona A. Kelley Memorial Scholarship

Leona A. Kelley Memorial Scholarship fund is offering a $1000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior who seeks to preserve the environment of South County.

Maddie Potts Foundation Scholarship

The Maddie Potts Foundation was established in November of 2017, less than 2 months after Maddie's sudden death on the Chariho soccer field of an unknown brain aneurysm. Maddie exemplified all attributes that a student athlete should possess. The Maddie Potts Foundation was founded in order to carry on Maddie's legacy of kindness, compassion, hard work, inclusive leadership and perseverance, aka Maddie Mentality.

Matthew Sheehan Memorial Foundation Scholarship 

Matthew grew up in South Kingstown, Rhode Island. He excelled academically and volunteered with kindness and compassion in numerous community service projects. In his humble way, Matthew so easily served others.

Military Spouses of Newport Scholarship

Awarded to a senior that is a military dependent and who meets all eligibility requirementsAwarded for excellence in academic performance, community service, extracurricular involvement, achievements, and leadership.

Narrow River Preservation Association Lesa Meng Scholarship

 $1000 awarded to promote and reward excellence as well as initiative in environmental stewardship and scientific coursework. Award based on academic excellence in the sciences.

New England Red Sox Service Scholarship

The Red Sox Foundation’s Service Scholarship initiative rewards graduating high school seniors across New England who are making a meaningful impact through service in their local communities by awarding them a $1,000 college scholarship.

Paul F Ronci Memorial Scholarship

The Paul F. Ronci Memorial Scholarship Trust has been established by the Parents of Paul F. Ronci to provide an annual scholarship to a full-time student who has attained academic excellence, demonstrates financial need, is a Rhode Island resident, aspires to further the good of humanity, and who otherwise displays leadership skills and a desire to better society.

This scholarship will be awarded to students who have demonstrated exemplary performance in dedication, leadership, and kindness both on and off the tennis court.

Rhode Island Coastal1 Credit Union Scholarship

To qualify, the applicant must be a member of a Credit Union, and should have a strong academic history and demonstrated community involvement.

Point Judith Fishermen's Scholarship

 Given to student(s) residing in South Kingstown and Narragansett. Special consideration is given to students dependent on someone who derives much of their income from commercial fishing in Point Judith.

 Raymond C. Dufault Scholarship

Given to a student who will pursue education in Culinary Arts, Arts, Music, Public Safety or Public Service and who shows the greatest financial need

Rhode Island Association of Admissions Officers

The RIAAO Scholarship provides financial assistance in the form of a ONE-TIME scholarship of $500.00 to three students from the state of Rhode Island who enroll in a RIAAO institution.

Rhode Island Building Industry Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to graduating RI High School Seniors who require financial assistance in the pursuit of education within the building industry field.

Rhode Island Italian-American Hall of Fame Scholarship

 This year the Rhode Island Italian American Hall of Fame will offer several scholarship awards at a minimum of $2,000 each to the best male and female scholar-athletes and scholar-artists in the state.

 Rhode Island Sports Fishermen Fisheries and Marine Sciences Award

$500 award is available to students enrolled in South County High Schools.  To a college bound senior in need of financial aid who demonstrates qualities of commendable academic performance, noteworthy character and integrity, and community service.

Rhode Island College Early Enrollment Program Scholarship

The Early Enrollment Program is awarding RIC/EEP scholarships of $1,000 to EEP students who plan to enroll at Rhode Island College this fall. The EEP Scholarships are open to all seniors who have enrolled in at least one EEP course during their high school career.

The Rhode Island Interscholastic League (RIIL) is pleased to continue its partnership with UA Local 51, the trade union for plumbers, pipefitters and refrigeration technicians in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts

The organization will provide a $3,000 scholarship to a student from South Kingstown, Chariho and Narragansett, RI pursuing an education majoring in Marine Studies.

South County Hospital Medical Staff Scholarship

Be a graduating high school senior of a high school in South County and be accepted or enrolled in an educational program working toward a degree in a healthcare-related field.

Southern RI Chamber of Commerce Scholarship 

Southern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce is awarding scholarships to high school seniors in Southern Rhode Island in recognition of academic excellence and community service.

South Kingstown Education Foundation Scholarship

To be eligible must: 

· Be accepted to an accredited post-secondary education institution, technical school or skilled trade

· Must have a GPA of B- or greater

Humphrey Amedeo Jr. Aviation Scholarship

The Westerly Airport Association annually awards scholarships to assist students pursuing postsecondary education toward an aviation or aero-space related career, such as flight crew, aircraft maintenance, aeronautical or astronautical engineering, airline or airport operations and the like.
