Students practice general care of their SKSD-issued Chromebook.
Chromebooks are loaned to students and remain the property of SKSD.
Keep the Chromebook in the case provided. Do not place the charger in the case. This may cause unnecessary pressure on the screen.
Be careful when inserting and removing cords and cables.
Practice care when consuming food or drink while using the Chromebook. Consider keeping beverages some distance away from the device. Refrain from eating foods or sugary drinks while in use.
Do not remove or tamper with SKSD barcodes placed on the Chromebook.
Do not place items like pencils or pens on the keyboard before closing the lid.
Charge the Chromebook on a level surface.
Avoid placing heavy objects on top of the Chromebook.
Clean your screen and keyboard with a dry soft cloth or microfiber towel.
Do not leave Chromebooks unattended, such as easily seen in a vehicle window, an unsupervised common area, or left open in a room.
Report any damage or missing device to a staff member as soon as possible.
Regularly log out and shut down the Chromebook to ensure the device receives updates to Chrome OS and apps.

Use the Chromebook and other electronic resources at school safely and responsibly for educational purposes.
Students in Grades 6-12 will come to school with a fully charged Chromebook. Students in Grades K-5 will place Chromebooks in the classroom's charging cart at the end of the school day.
Follow directions given by the classroom teacher in regards to Chromebook use. Device usage will vary class by class.
Practice and abide by rules of digital citizenship and acceptable online behavior.
Students will only use their assigned Google accounts and not share their account information or passwords with other students. Students will also refrain from loaning their device to other students. Leave chargers at home. Emergency charging cords may be available in classrooms.
Lock the Chromebook before walking away from it. Press Search and the ‘L’ key to lock the device.
Respect intellectual property rights and copyright laws. Give credit by citing sources appropriately.
Convey to your teacher as quickly as possible, without discussing with other students, any identified security problems or potential online safety issues.
Students are expected to notify a staff member immediately if they come across any information, image, or message that is inappropriate, dangerous, threatening, or makes them feel uncomfortable.
If a student leaves their Chromebook at home, they are responsible for completing course assignments. Students may check out a loaned device from the building’s library pending availability. Loaned Chromebooks are to be returned at the end of each school day.
Students in Grades 6-12 will take their assigned Chromebook to and from school each day. Chromebook usage at home varies for each student.
Students should have Chromebooks fully charged before coming to school.
TIP: As part of an evening routine, students are encouraged to charge the Chromebook overnight before placing them in their bags the next morning.
Students will leave chargers at home.
Refrain from placing the Chromebook on the floor.
Protect the device from:
Extreme temperatures
Food, drinks, and other liquids
Small children or pets
Precarious situations such as placing the device on the hood of a car, charging next to a sink, etc.
Discuss expectations of Chromebook usage at home with parents/guardians.
Students will practice care when transporting the device from home to school and when moving around the classroom.
Keep the Chromebook in the case.
Use two hands when moving with the Chromebook. Refrain from picking the device up by the screen.
Practice care when the Chromebook is stored in a bag or locker.
Be mindful of textbooks and other heavy items that may place pressure on the screen.
