The student may receive a "loaner" device depending on availability. The student must return the device at the end of the school day or as directed by the librarian.
SKSD makes every effort to to equip families with tools and information to ensure safe use of SK-issued devices in the home. Filtering services provided in our schools - in compliance with minimum federal regulations for protection of students - are extended to Chromebooks when they are used away from school. In addition to filtering services and tools like the Parent Report and Parent Portal, parent/guardian support in monitoring and keeping students safe online.

South Kitsap School District uses Common Sense Education's Digital Citizenship Curriculum. K-12 Students receive instruction provided through libraries and classrooms on eight topics including digital footprint & identity, relationships & communication, media balance & well-being.

If you have home internet, identify the Wifi Network name and password. It may be located on the router. Please refer to the Chromebook and Internet Connectivity section of the SK-issued Chromebooks support document for detailed instructions.

Students can still use Google Drive files when not connected to the internet. Learn more about using Google Drive files offline.
To help provide a consistent instructional experience, our students use Chromebooks as 1:1 devices.
District-issued Chromebooks are configured with some standard settings and web filtering precautions to help guide students safely.
While other device types are fine for home use (Windows laptops, Macs, iPads), for consistency we ask that students use the district provided Chromebooks.
When a Chromebook hasn't been updated, many apps and features of the device are affected.
Turn on the Chromebook.
At the bottom right of the screen, click on the time.
Choose Settings (gear icon).
At the bottom left, click About Chrome OS.
Under Google Chrome OS, you'll find which version of the Chrome operating system the Chromebook uses.
Select Check for Updates.
If there's an available update, it will download automatically.
Click Restart to finish the update.
