What would happen if everybody did the things in this book? What would the world look like? Would it be somewhere you would like to live?

I hope you're excited to come back from summer break! What were you feeling on the first day of school? Did you ahve fun right away? What is your favorite thing about first grade so far?
In our First Grade Character Education classes, we will be using the Second Step curriculum. This curriculum teaches skills in four areas:
Skills for Learning
Empathy
Emotion Management
Problem Solving
We play games, listen to stories, watch music videos, hear from our puppet friends Bella and Mr. Snail, complete worksheets, and sometimes we have Homelinks, which are short homework sheets meant to be completed with a grown up.
You can create a parent/guardian account by going to the website and using the activation key:
SSP1 FAMI LY71
If you created one for kindergarten last year, this one is a little different. You can have more than one grade level associated with your account if you have more than one student!
Here's a video about a mouse looking for a friend. Do you think the bug was a good friend? Were the two boys who came in very nice? What do you think makes someone a good friend?
Have you ever seen Ormie the Pig? He's a silly pig with a big problem. Have you ever had a problem? What did you do to solve it? Do you remember our 4 Problem Solving Steps we learned about in Character Ed?
