This course is designed to develop intelligent, self-directed behaviors that lead to good personal health through the study of physical, mental, spiritual, and social aspects of health. Students will learn and apply: healthy attitudes, behaviors, and relationships, self-esteem, communication, preventative measures in disease, body systems, substance abuse, exercise and nutrition.

This course focuses on the fundamental components and principles of fitness. The course examines safety guidelines, proper technique, and exercise principles such as the FITT. Students will assess their current level of fitness in relation to the five components of physical fitness: flexibility, cardiovascular health, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and body composition. Students will also learn strategies to help them begin, design, and maintain an exercise program to keep them fit for life. Open to all grades if a student has not previously completed the course. 

9540 Intro to Innovative Technologies $

IIT is a multi-disciplinary, hands-on course designed to engage students in direct exploration of various STEM-related activities. This course is intentionally designed for students to take greater, independent responsibility for their learning by accessing carefully organized content.  The course reinforces and encourages our students to take ownership of their education. A high premium is placed on critical thinking and self-empowerment within a creative space that helps them grow in confidence while developing important 21st-century skills. Students will take a deeper dive into engineering principles by engaging in activities that involve basic electronics, programming, computer-aided design, fabrication and construction. Students are introduced to basic engineering concepts and practices and instructed on how to use the tools necessary for the successful completion of the activities assigned.  

The course is comprised of these four STEM disciplines:

Engineering Design with CAD (including assembly motions/mates with OnShape)

Fabrication/Construction (laser-cutting wood and construction, 3D prints)

Programming (Arduino, autonomous programming of vehicle)

Electronics/Circuitry (Arduino)

This course is for students who failed a course during the school year and need to remediate. Student will work with teachers in the class(es) they failed to make a remediation plan, and then work on the plan in the Credit Recovery class. Student's attendance will be required and recorded.
