At the end of an AP course, students sit for the AP exam. This exam is scored from 1-5. Earning a score of 3, 4, or 5 may qualify a student for college credit. Each college awards AP credit differently and some limit the number of AP credits that may be applied toward a degree. Students are encouraged to speak with the College Admissions Office for further clarification. More information can also be found on the College Board website: AP Credit Policy Search
Students who have taken courses at SJV that are dually enrolled through Brookdale Community College, Georgian Court University or Seton Hall University may be able to transfer the credit earned to another college. Typically, a grade of C or higher will transfer to another institution and the student will receive credit toward their degree; however, some colleges have strict rules for dual enrollment classes and will only transfer credits if they are taken directly on the campus of the school awarding the credit. Students are encouraged to speak directly with the school they are applying to discuss how dual enrollment credit is assessed.
