PCP TLC participants may choose from a variety of small group teaching opportunities that match their interests and availability throughout the fall and spring semesters. All small group teaching opportunities require participants to prepare in advance and arrive at each session ready to lead students through the planned activities. A sign-up sheet distributed near the beginning of each semester is used to coordinate small group teaching opportunities.
Track Requirements
Preceptor track: 15 hours (10 in class, 5 prep/grading)
Academia track: 30 hours (20 in class, 10 prep/grading)
Where should I direct questions about specific small group teaching activities?
Questions about specific small group teaching opportunities should be directed to the course coordinator identified on the sign-up sheet. Your PCP TLC mentor can help to answer more general questions about small group teaching.
What should I do if I need to miss a small group teaching opportunity that I have previously committed to on the Google sign-up sheet?
Signing up for an activity on the sign-up sheet is considered a commitment that you will arrive on time and prepared to lead the session. Deleting your name from the sign-up sheet does not change this commitment. Once you have signed up for an activity it is your responsibility to work with the course coordinator to identify coverage.
How do PCP TLC participants receive feedback about their small group teaching?
After signing up for small group teaching activities each semester, participants are encouraged to share their teaching dates with their faculty mentor to see if they are available to attend for direct observation and feedback purposes.Â
