The purpose of this blog is to provide libraries and librarians with relevant and helpful ways to engage with the South Asian Community in Los Angeles. It explores demographical and social information about this community and aims to educate both librarians and patrons about South Asian culture through an extensive compilation of resources such as books, websites, and media. Los Angeles has the second largest Indian American population in California, and South Asian culture has flourished in many pockets of California, creating a rich history (Brightwell, 2024); however, harmful and racist stereotypes of the South Asian community are rampant. It is imperative to spread awareness and cultivate appreciation for our fellow citizen's vibrant culture.
