How can the library support the Indian community specifcally?

Most importantly, having DEI classes and mandated training for staff that go beyond surface level to teach about implicit biases is crucial for providing equitable service within the libraries. Making sure that this population is represented in the collection is another important aspect of providing culturally appropriate library services. Gathering input from the community directly via a meeting or survey is useful in gathering information, but the questions must be thoughtfully considered to be relevant and incisive. Another way to provide culturally appropriate services is by incorporating books on Indian American culture into storytimes and family programming in order to raise awareness and combat negative, harmful, and racist stereotypes.
