Los Angeles has historically been a place with a rich Indian community. In fact, it is the third-largest immigrant population in the city, with a population of 285,000. These immigrants have contributed to the cultural and social richness of Los Angeles. In addition, Indians are the second largest immigrant group in America, which is surprising given that most immigration from India occurred after 1965 with the abolition of natural-origin quotas. Most of these Indian immigrants came to America in order to work at white collar jobs or attend universities, and four-fifths of them have already acquired a bachelor's degree or higher. Across America, Indian immigrants median income is twice as much as other immigrant groups or natural citizens (Hoffman & Batalova, 2022). California is the state with the highest percentage of Indian immigrants at 20% , followed by Texas and New Jersey, with 11% and 10% of the total Indian immigrant population respectively.
