Created for INFO 275: Library Services for Racially and Ethnically Diverse Communities, this website aims to provide librarians with a comprehensive list of resources and tools that can be used to enhance library services for LGBTQIA2S+ young adult (YA) patrons in the Las Vegas area.
Before you begin browsing resources, I encourage you to take a look at the “Vocabulary to Know” page to familiarize yourself with some of the basic and foundational terminology associated with the LGBTQIA+ community, teens, and cultural competency that will be used throughout this website.
As a librarian in training, embracing cultural humility, competence, and awareness will allow me to better perform my role as an information professional. I will approach every interaction with sensitivity, empathy, and respect for the diverse experiences of all patrons. In order to create an inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ teens, I must continuously practice cultural humility, competence, and awareness through self-evaluation and reflection.
