If you are staying on campus, you can check out any time between 10am and 10pm, so leave your luggage in your room.
Evaluation: We will be sending you an overall conference evaluation in the coming days to evaluate the conference writ large...BUT in the meantime, do please continue to evaluate the sessions, processes, the food, and whatever else you can think of here.
Session Facilitators: If you have any materials you wish to share with participants, please check out this form to facilitate sharing on the conference resources webpage.
Don't forget to stick around for the closing plenary with Dr. Kathleen Wong(Lau), University Diversity Officer at CSU East Bay! Here is the title and description of the session:
The Future of Dialogue in a World that is Increasingly Hostile to Engagement in Difficult Dialogues
The current political and legislative environment is openly hostile to curriculum, programming, and support of diversity, equity, multiple perspectives, and social justice in higher education and in public education. This is coupled with the similar political and legislative moves and violent attacks on LGBTQ+ community. In an environment where much work in DEI is being threatened and verbal attacks are a common mode of engagement, how can intergroup dialogue, and dialogic practices provide a means to sustaining our work?
Don't Miss it!
i can't believe this is our last day! We hope you have enjoyed your time at San José State University!
Peace,

Welcome to #DDNRC2023!
A couple of quick updates:
While you can always check out the schedule of events via the schedule webpage, we now have a viewable and downloadable version in a conference program. Check it out on the program webpage. We will have a number of copies at the registration table in the Student Union Courtyard...and...we're hoping that we can save a few trees, by directing folks to the pages within this website.
As you are looking through the schedule, don't forget to stick around for the closing plenary with Dr. Kathleen Wong(Lau), University Diversity Officer at CSU East Bay! Here is the title and description of the session:

Greetings DDNRC 2023 Conference Attendees!
i hope that you and your loved ones are healthy, safe, and well…and that you are getting excited for the return of DDNRC's biennial conference! DDNRC 2023 is just around the corner, so i wanted to share with you a couple of updates and tips on traveling to San José State University, and the “[San Francisco] Bay Area” in general.
There will be times during the conference we will need to communicate with you all. We will try to keep our announcements on the conference website, specifically on the updates page. While on the website you will also notice if we send out an alert by an orange bar that gets displayed on all pages. The website is the best source of information…we will continue to update our Frequently Asked Questions page as the questions come in. If you are unable to find answers on the website, please don’t hesitate to send me an email at craig.alimo@sjsu.edu.
The conference is happening in San José State University’s Diaz Compean Student Union. To check into the conference, you can do so at the Student Union Theater Courtyard located at the northeast corner of the building…click here for the location on a google map. More information about travel to SJSU can be found on the Getting to SJSU webpage.
Tips and Things to Remember:
--Your COVID Vaccination card. This is required for people who will be staying in conference services housing (aka SJSU’s residence halls). For the rest of us, it is good to bring your COVID card as we never know what may happen with the pandemic. California, and the County of Santa Clara (where SJSU is) is particularly important, in large group settings like a conference. Sadly, we are not 100% done with COVID.
--Be mindful of your luggage and belongings when traveling to and around SJSU. Secure belongings out of sight in your car.
--If you are staying in conference services housing (aka SJSU’s residence halls), check in and check out is anytime between 10am and 10pm. Should you wish to make arrangements outside of this timeframe contact conferences services at (408) 795-5672, or uhs-conferenceassistant@sjsu.edu .
--Check out the listing of breakout sessions on the conference schedule webpage! We will print out conference program for you, and all of the schedule and descriptions of the breakout sessions are accessible on the website, and a PDF version of the conference is forthcoming.
—If you are planning to attend Session #17: Getting the Dialogue Started…don’t forget to bring your props, stories, symbolic toys, etc. that you would like to tell others about!
--Want to connect with other conference attendees? Consider sharing your contact information on the contact sharing webpage.
--If you will be in San José by Monday at 5pm, join us at the Happy Hour Social in the Spartan Rose Garden (aka: Peace Garden or Bell Garden) on the SJSU campus from 5-7pm. Click here for a google map location.
That’s all we’ve got for now…i’m sure there will be more updates to come. Safe Travels to you, and we’ll see you here at San José State University soon!
