The Tom Nooc Oil Refinery focuses on the full site design of a brownfield refinery capable of processing 500,000 barrels of used motor oil per year. The goal of this project was to design a facility that can take in waste oil and refine it into marketable products such as raw and hydro-finished gas oil, heavy and light neutral oils, and asphalt. While the internal specifications of the processing units were provided, our team was responsible for the complete layout and infrastructure design of the facility. Our site includes a used oil collection tank farm, front-end and back-end processing areas, a finished products tank farm, blending and packaging lines, and both shipping/receiving logistics areas and administrative buildings. We also incorporated an on-site wastewater treatment system to ensure environmental compliance. Key design considerations included utility planning, storage capacity, safety, traffic flow, and sustainability. The Tom Nooc Oil Refinery represents a practical and environmentally responsible solution for used oil re-refining, with careful planning of site infrastructure to support efficient and safe operations.
