Happy Mother's Day
AFL Players have Question and Answer Session with our Year 3/4 Students
Three of our Year 3/4 classes were able to ask lots of questions about, health, sport, training and teamwork at a Q&A session with a number of players from the St Kilda AFL team.
Thinking and formulating questions helps children to develop discussion skills, critical thinking and vocabulary. Formulating questions also improves memory about a topic and is an important aspect of inquiry learning.
The students enjoyed their conversations with the St Kilda football team.

National Walk Safely to School Day 2023
On Walk Safely to School Day, primary school aged children are encouraged to walk with their parents or caregiver to school. This encourages healthy habits as well as teaching vital road safety skills.
Primary school aged children across Australia will make those important steps towards a healthier future by participating in National Walk Safely to School Day on Friday 19 May 2023. National Walk Safely to School Day is a community initiative that aims to raise awareness of the health, road safety, transport and environmental benefits that regular walking (especially to and from school) can provide for the long term well-being of our children.
Now in its 24th year, the annual event encourages parents and teachers to teach road safety skills and support the importance of regular walking, not just on 19 May, but every day.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
This year, we are fortunate enough to get several classes in our school to participate in a modified National Child Protection Week art activity. This activity gave students the opportunity to discuss with others about the people, building and spaces that they believed was important in our neighbourhood. They then illustrated what their ideal neighbourhood would look like.
We hope that this conversation has allowed students to understand that they have a voice and are able to express their thoughts and feelings. That this will be the first of many important conversations that they can be involved in.
Here is a digital gallery with some of their illustrations and posters.
