Each year, the team has a new game that we build a robot to compete in. The reveal of this game is called Kickoff, and the team joins together in the SJHS Student Center to learn the new game and have some fun getting to know teammates.
Who: Students, but we also welcome family to come hang out!
Where: We host this event in the Student Center, then make our way to the Auditoruim to watch the game reveal (starts @ 12pm), then are back in the Student Center for the rest of the day.
When: Usually the first Saturday of January, sometimes the second.
Why: For a handful of reasons!
Team bonding - get to know your teammates, hang out, and play games together
Learning about the season - Before kickoff, we have a quick meeting where we introduce mentors,
Attendance: All Average Joes Students are expected to attend Kickoff. If you cannot attend, you must email a coach with a valid reason for absence. If you cannot attend, there will be required homework due by the first Saturday meeting (one week from Kickoff)
7 weeks of designing, building, programming, and developing a robot while completing the business aspect of promoting, outreach, documentation, and more.
Meets ~4-5 days a week
If students complete the following requirements, they are able to travel with the team to competitions and receive .5 credits on their transcript.
