Breaking News:

Xiao-Ning Zhang was invited to give a talk at Plant and Animal Genome Conference titled" Serine/Arginine-rich 45-mediated Transcriptional and Splicing Regulation in Plant Immunity in Arabidopsis thaliana." on January 16th, 2024.

Welcome to the Zhang Lab! This website gives you a snapshot of my teaching, research and outreach activities that STUDENTS have been and continue to get involved in.

My career at St. Bonaventure University started in fall 2009. It has grown immensely in the first 10 years. I am excited for what future will bring.

My RESEARCH INTERESTS are mainly focused on the regulation of mRNA splicing and how it engages developmental signals and environmental cues to achieve plant fitness. Much of our latest DISCOVERIES involve undergraduate student researchers and external collaborators in the US and world-wide.

In the CLASSROOM, I encourage students to become active learners through experiential learning. I believe that the most important thing in college study is to learn how to learn. Information is vast and ever increasing. Future is available at fingertips when someone is able to acquire correct and accurate information, make new connections, and manage information effectively and efficiently.

STEM/STEAM OUTREACH extends experiential learning to a much larger context - community. Getting involved in STEM/STEAM outreach events, science students have the opportunity to work with students, faculty and community members from different disciplines as a team. Members of our ASBMB Student Chapter at SBU have brought the joy of biology and biochemistry to hundreds of K-12 students, their family members, young adults, teachers, etc. since 2018.

We celebrate every SUCCESS that students make and our hard work brings. It has been an amazing journey! The best part is that future is still unfolding with new possibilities that we never anticipated. I invite you to enjoy this journey with us.
