The ASBMB Student Chapter offered a successful STEAM workshop on the Balance of Nutrition and Exercise to 10 elementary school teachers. Erin McNell, a biochemistry major, created the workshop materials and led the workshop. Co-sponsors: WNY STEM Southern Tier Satellite Center, C-A Teacher Center and Quick Center for the Arts. Sam Chen, Tim Rooney, Anna Hu, Leann Mangalath, Jordan Powers & Xiao-Ning Zhang co-authored a paper titled "Quantitative proteomics reveals a role for SERINE/ARGININE-RICH 45 in regulating RNA metabolism and modulating transcriptional suppression via the ASAP complex in Arabidopsis thaliana" in Frontiers in Plant Science. This work was done in collaboration with Dr. Bret Cooper's group at USDA, ARS!

Congratulations to the 11 high school students who have successfully completed their research projects in the 5th Annual Summer Research Program for High School Students (SBU-SRP4HS) . A total of 7 science faculty, 3 undergraduates worked with them in De La Roche Hall and Walsh Science Center on SBU campus for two weeks.
