Snowden Hill Falls
Snowden Hill Falls
Sierra County, California
Description
Location
This is a collection of six waterfalls off the northwest (first five) and north (sixth) sides of Snowden Hill in the North Yuba River Canyon west of Downieville. I visited these waterfalls during a heavy rainstorm, so I would expect their flow to be drastically reduced (if flowing at all) during most of the year. The first five are especially impressive since almost their entire lengths are visible from multiple places along CA-49 near Snowden Hill. The sixth waterfall is also a pretty waterfall with multiple fingers flowing into the North Yuba River.

Directions
Many of these waterfalls are visible from multiple places along CA-49 near Indian Valley, but the first is located directly across the North Yuba River from CA-49 ~9.1 miles southwest of the CA-49 bridge in Downieville. The next four waterfalls (#s 2-5) are the next drainages to east and northeast. To get a closer view of these five, I scrambled down the embankment to the south of CA-49 (steep). The sixth waterfall is located directly across the river from CA-49 ~7.7 miles southwest of the CA-49 bridge in Downieville.
