Essential oils for emotions

"The nobility of man is in his constant struggle with his own unasked-for existence in a world that is a house of mirrors - his sole support, and his faith in the process of life itself." Power vs. Force by David R. Hawkins, M.D.,Ph.D

The best experience I have had so far has been a marked improvement in a severe anxiety disorder that I have suffered from for years. The last 3 years it has been debilitating, causing social phobias, cognitive impairment, memory loss, anxiety attacks, numerous effects on other areas of health, a reclusive lifestyle and eventually led to the inability to live in my house with only my baby. It has affected so many areas of my life it would be impossible to recount them all. My baby and I finally moved in with my parents about 7 months ago and have stayed with little hope that I could return to my home. Approximately a week after starting my oils I realized one night that I had been planning to return home for a few days without terror overcoming me. This in itself was a true miracle. I can't find the words to express what it felt like to know that the terror had dissipated, that my daughter and I could go home and begin our new lives together. Now I have the ability to remain calm with my daughter instead of overreacting because of my anxiety. Her life is and will continue to be so much better now that her mommy is so much more grounded.

I have been using the everyday oils plus Progressence Plus. I use copious amounts of Joy. Somehow the oils have been able to manage a condition that had not improved despite years of medications, therapy, books, prayers, hospitalizations and unfortunately a dozen sessions of ECT. Many more efforts to get well that I won't bore you with. That night, the realization of my measurable improvement made me a believer. I tell everyone I know about what oil have done for me.

My income is very limited because I'm physically disabled so I only have disability to live on. I will continue to use the oils anyhow because they are not frivolous spending. I consider them to be part of my medical expenses and just as important as my continued treatment with any doctor. The health of my two-year-old and myself is of the utmost importance so there's no question about budgeting for our oils. They are necessary to our well being.

Peace be with you!

There are many essential oils/oil blends to choose from to assist emotions. In fact, every essential oil exerts emotional energy.

At the 2014 Internation Convention, Young Living introduced 2 collections for emotions:

    • Freedom Release Collection - for those suffering from negative life experiences

    • Reconnect Collection - for those wanting to release negative emotions and reconnect to their surroundings

I attached pages from the Essential Oils Desk Reference Desk below for comprehensive information.

For my experience notes, please read on.

My knowledge-thirsty class,

I have not abandoned you. I was busy working on the therapeutic grade essential oils protocols for pregnancy and edema, and putting together a new blog on a big subject – using therapeutic grade essential oils for emotions. So let’s dive in.

According to Bruce Lipton, PhD “your mind’s perception of the world changes your biology, the chemistry of your body, which changes your cells” (Bruce Lipton ' The Power Of Consciousness' ).

It is remarkable to observe, how quickly you can get well when you are happy. Both, my son and I, observed quick and amazing changes in our health when we’re happy. Just last Friday night I had a cone of frozen yogurt, which I normally don’t have for dietary reasons. However, that night I wanted to relax and just enjoy myself. And guess what - a health problem I was having the whole week, evaporated into a thin air, just like that! I was smart this time, and when I got home took 1 drop of Ocotea to lower the sugar content in my body. http://eugeniyamusic.blogspot.com/2014/04/do-not-underestimate-power-of-joy.html

You might also enjoy reading The emotional Life Of Your Brain by Richard J.Davidson, Ph.D. with Sharon Begley on the same subject and many other very exciting findings and research.

Gary Young has yet another angle to look at our mind and emotions.

It’s just an old wisdom:

"All that we are is the result of what we have thought." Buddha

"As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." James Allen

Many other factors effect our emotions, like the foods we eat. Many years ago, to be a good mom, I gave up bread, which was making me tired. On the other hand, I learned that when you have negative emotions, different organs get stressed out, and you don’t feel well no matter what you eat. For example, when under stress, adrenals release too much harmful hormones, stomach produces too much acid, anger produces black bile, etc. (Read more here: Your Backup Brain

In Molecules of Emotion written by Candace B.Pert, Ph.D., forwarded by Deepak Chopra, M.D., the author explains that "if our emotions are blocked due to denial, repression, or trauma, then blood flow can become chronically constricted, depriving the frontal cortex, as well as other organs, of vital nourishment. ... As a result, you may become stuck - unable to respond freshly to the world around you, repeating old patterns of behavior and feeling that are responses to an outdated knowledge base."

Negative and unresolved, stored in our body emotions, simply put, if not released, make us sick. If you pay close attention to your body, you would notice how you start getting sick. If you don't do anything about it, you might feel worse with time.

There are different ways to release and to assist our body dealing with negative emotions. I remember after my mom passed away, in 2002, for a very long time I carried a lot of memories about her suffering, and a sense of guilt. I went for a Jin Shin Do session to relieve my stress. While the practitioner pressed on different parts of my body, those heavy memories re-surfaced, poured out of me, and I cried it all out. My neck did not feel stiff anymore, and I smiled for the first time in a long time. If I knew about essential oils then, I would have helped myself and my family go thru these difficult times, as I did in December of 2011 my mother-in-law.

"The nodal point used for bodymind is the frontal cortex, a part of the brain that is rich in peptides and receptors. Also known as the forebrain, the frontal cortex is unique to humans and sits behind the forehead. It is the location for all the higher cognitive functions, such as planning for the future, making decisions, and formulating intentions to change. In humans, this part of the brain does not fully develop until some time in the early twenties.

Blood flow is closely regulated by emotional peptides, which signal receptors on blood vessel walls to constrict or dilate, and so influence the amount and velocity of blood flowing through them from moment to moment. For example, people turn "white as a sheet" when they hear shocking news, or "beet red" when they become enraged."

It is nothing new that the way we feel affects our health. It is interesting to learn though, that 95% of how we feel has nothing to do with our conscious mind - our subconscious thoughts and memories stored in our body are in control. Read more here.

Center for emotions, memory and learning, the limbic system, is located behind the forehead and is directly connected to the central nervous system.

The limbic system (or Paleomammalian brain) is a set of brain structures which support a variety of functions including emotion, behavior, motivation, long term memory, and sense of smell… The limbic system operates by influencing the endocrine system and the autonomic nervous system. Cingulate gyrus:[4][5][6] is one of the parts of the limbic lobe. Its autonomic functions regulate heart rate, blood pressure and cognitive and attentional processing.” Watch these videos: video1 video2.

Our sense and memory of smell is the quickest and the strongest of our senses, 10,000 times stronger than other senses. Therapeutic grade essential oils generate “responses to the odors we smell in mere seconds. Due to this rapid response, sometimes the compound found in the lowest concentration can generate the strongest effects, yet these effects will always materialize in the most harmless form; sensitivity is increased and the subconscious moves closer to the focal point of consciousness. Inhibitions, created by culture and education, are lowered and instincts are sharpened” ” (Aromatherapy course by Dr. Kurt Schnaubelt)

Effects of essential oils are stimulant, exalting (stimulant + erogenous), erogenous, sultry (erogenous + narcotic), narcotic, calming (narcotic + anti-erogenous), refreshing (anti-erogenous + stimulant), and anti-erogenous, depending on the composition of the oil. For example, oils with the fragrance of Linalyl acetate are cleansing or refreshing (like citrus and needle-tree odors), and are used in bath salts, toothpaste, detergents, etc. “”Soft” odors do not inherently produce a reaction, rather they induce or increase a tendency to relax or to be receptive to feelings. Ultimately, these odors may produce “narcotic” effects through their pathways to the central nervous system (CNS). Due to the minute quantities involved, these effects are subtle, yet they occur at the moment a fragrance is smelled.” (Aromatherapy course by Dr. Kurt Schnaubelt)

Inhaling therapeutic grade essential oils can assist us in overcoming anxiety, anger, depression, fear and other negative emotions, bring us a sense of joy and confidence, creating harmonious state of mind, thereby allowing our body to regain a healthy balance.

· For fear, for example, you can use Bergamot or Clary sage (very popular in South America), or my favorite Young Living blend Valor.

  • Both Basil and Bergamot can banish shyness and self-doubt, and give you renewed faith in your abilities.

  • For depression, Frankincense and Valor are great

  • Concentration – “Dr. William N. Dember of the University of Cincinnati studied peppermint's ability to improve concentration and mental sharpness. Alan Hirsch MD studied peppermint's ability to directly affect the brain's satiety center, which triggers a sensation of fullness after meals.” Young Living

  • For grief – I had good results using Release and Trauma Life (Ylang ylang (Cananga odorata), lavandin (Lavandula x hybrida), geranium (Pelargonium graveolens), sandalwood (Santalum album) and blue tansy (Tanacetum annuum) in a base of olive oil.

  • Irritability Lavender, Peace and Calming

  • For postpartum, Progessence Plus Serum is very effective at balancing hormones. Read more...

Every essential oil has a whole multitude of effects due to its chemical components.

“The oil of Juniper (Juniperus communis) of the Cupressaceae family, for example, is a diuretic and detoxifying agent for a body laden with too much alcohol or food. It regulates the appetite and is a tonic for the kidneys and liver. Wanda Sellar claims, “tis ability to throw off poisons by purifying the blood.. and eliminating uric acid … in cases of arthritis, rheumatism, and gout” made it a valuable oil. Mentally, Juniper clears and stimulates thoughts, especially in challenging situations.

Zenobia, the Syrian Queen of the Palmyrene Empire, would have enjoyed the effect of the [clove] oil in her military and intellectual pursuits. She would sprinkle a few drops of Clove oil into her bath water and sometimes on her food. It gave her a tingling feeling of strength and health.” (from Awaken to Healing Fragrance by Elizabeth Anne Jones)

From Essential Oils Desk Reference

Jasmine** (Jasminum officinale) has a warm, exotic, floral fragrance that relaxes, soothes, uplifts, and enhances self-confidence. Jasmine is beneficial for the skin. It has been used throughout history for romance and attraction and for balancing the feminine energy of the body.

Ylang ylang (Cananga odorata) has a sweet, soft, flowery fragrance that has made it a romantic favorite. In Indonesia, the petals are often strewn across a marriage bed. Ylang ylang is extremely effective in calming and bringing about a sense of relaxation, and it may help with releasing feelings of anger, tension, and nervous irritability.

Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) has a wonderfully uplifting, calming, flowery scent. It is excellent for the skin, and its aromatic influence helps release negative memories.

You can also apply therapeutic grade essential oils externally and take internally (only therapeutic grade essential oils can be taken internally).

Applying Young Living oils on the spine, called a Raindrop Technique, has a powerful healing effect on the body and mind.

Today, we live in a society of emotional turmoil. There is more focus on emotional behavior and psychological conditions of the body now than at any time in our history. Many doctors are recognizing the possibility that a number of diseases are caused by emotional problems that link back to infancy and perhaps even to the womb.

These emotional problems may have compromised our immune system or genetic structuring, causing children to become allergic to something that the mother ingested while pregnant.

Essential oils play an important role in assisting people to move beyond these emotional barriers. The aldehydes and esters of certain essential oils are very calming and sedating to the central nervous system (including both the sympathetic and para¬sympathetic systems).

These substances allow us to relax instead of letting anxiety build up in our body. Anxiety creates an acidic condition that activates the transcript enzyme which then transcribes that anxiety on the RNA template and stores it in the DNA. That emotion then becomes a predominant factor in our lives from that moment on.

When we encounter an emotionally charged situation, instead of being overwhelmed by it, we can diffuse essential oils, put them in our bath, or wear them as cologne.

The aromatic molecules will absorb into the bloodstream from the nasal cavity to the limbic system. They will activate the amygdala (the memory center for fear and trauma) and sedate and relax the sympathetic/para¬sympathetic system.

Essential oils help support the body in minimizing the acid that is created so that it does not initiate a reaction with the transcript enzyme. Because essential oils affect the amygdala and pineal gland in the brain, they can help the mind and body by releasing emotional trauma and sharpening focus.

People have many distractions in today’s fast-paced world. Essential oils may assist people to stay centered in their goals. Those who are struggling to retain or remember information can breathe the essential oils of peppermint, cardamom, or rosemary to stimulate the brain and memory functions for better concentration.

Those who find it difficult to stay focused can breathe the essential oils of galbanum, frankincense, sandalwood, and melissa. These oils are extremely beneficial for clarifying one’s purpose. The blend Gathering will also bring focus to people’s minds.

For emotional clearing and release, the combination of essential oils called Trauma Life is especially helpful.

Reiki For Healing and Stress Reduction

by Jonell Elder

Reiki is a phenomenal way of achieving healing, and one of the most profound benefits is relaxation. If you have stress in your life, this can begin to cause many “side effects”. The side effects can cause other ailments, as stress is a leading cause to the beginning of health problems. Stress can cause you to loose sleep, which then can lead to more health issues, because your body and mind are not getting the much needed rest it needs to work on staying as healthy as possible.

Stress for many of us is a situation that we have to deal with. Sometimes we would like to be able to just walk away or somehow remove the stress from our lives, however there are circumstances that we can not turn away from, we have to deal with them and make it through whatever it is. This is where Reiki comes in quite nicely.

For those that do not know or understand what Reiki is, here is an explanation:

Reiki is a form of natural healing and stress reduction founded in the late 1800’s by Sensei Mikao Usui of Japan, utilizing spiritually guided universal life-force. It is an elegantly simple art that empowers and promotes an individual’s well-being. Although spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. Reiki is not alternative medicine; rather it empowers and fully supports all other health care modalities. People from all walks of life practice Reiki such as: Pilots, Physicians, Nurses, Ranchers, Office Workers, Corporate Executives, Athletes and Artists.

A Reiki session is non-invasive and usually quiet. You are fully clothed and will either lie down or sit in a chair. The Reiki practitioner will proceed to lay hands upon you, usually starting at the head and ending at the feet. Most recipients experience a great sense of glowing peace during and after a session. Many experience immediate relief from pain and/or removal of symptoms of disease.

The most profound feeling that my clients experience is a feeling of total relief of burdens, an amazing time of deep relaxation. It is a moment of ahhhhhhhh, of feeling all cares disappearing. This feeling can last and escalate for up to a week.

For my clients I always end their sessions with application of an essential oil on their feet. Before the session begins, we talk and I hear some of what may be going on in their lives and this helps me to determine which essential oil to finish their session with.

My favorite oil if the blend of Harmony. Harmony™ is an exquisite blend that promotes physical and emotional well-being by bringing harmonic balance to the energy centers of the body. The liberating, balancing, and calming essential oils in this blend open us to new possibilities while contributing to an overall feeling of well-being.

Reiki is a beautiful gift to give to yourself and is an experience that I hope many people are able to enjoy and to realize that there are wonderful natural ways to help not only in stress reduction but in all areas of health and well being. I would be honored to help you to feel the energy release that is a possibility through Reiki, as would other Reiki practitioners in your area.

May you find peace and harmony in your daily life and feel the great joy that comes hand in hand with these positive emotions.

Adding Years to Your Life and Life to Your Years

Friends,

I love Harmony. I used it on something that looked like an eczema - applied once a day - it quickly started going away and softening my skin. At the same time, the cravings for chocolate and sweets started going away too!

http://younglivingcircleblog.com/2010/03/08/5-ways-to-deal-with-grief-or-sorrow/

Class,

I like to share a new discovery with you. Back in college I broke my big toe. All of a sudden it started hurting so badly, it was painful to walk. I happened to have RutaVala roll-on. I generously put it on the spot where it broke off and told myself – I’ll be ok in a few minutes. And guess what followed – the pain went away!

Many of you say that you have to believe in the oils in order for them to work. Yes and no. Young Living essential oils are extremely potent. However, you can either use the power of your mind with them or against them.

Your guiding star,

Eugeniya

Have you picked up your free RutaVaLa™ Roll-On this month as part of the PV promotion? This roll-on certainly has a unique smell thanks to the blend of ruta and valerian smoothed out with lavender. Don’t let the unexpected pungent aroma turn you away; RutaVaLa Roll-On is an amazing tool to ease pressures on the body and in the mind.

This unique essential oil product was formulated by Gary Young to help target tense areas for a focused application. The stainless-steel roll-on ball—combined with the blend of authentic essential oils—helps pinpoint muscles to release muscle pressure and overcome negative feelings.

I recently an had incredible experience with RutaVaLa Roll-On. I wrecked on my bike when a car pulled out in front of me. The pain was intense; my head hurt and I had a cracked rib. When I got home, I hurt so badly I began to suffer emotionally. I applied RutaVaLa on my ribs and experienced a great deal of emotional relief—so much so, I was able to relax and get some sleep to help my body heal. Later, whenever emotional discomfort and stress arose because of my injuries, I quickly applied RutaVaLa Roll-On for quick relief.

As you practice using RutaVaLa Roll-On, you’ll quickly find that your usual pressure triggers will begin to fade away. The negative energy that once stored inside of your body will begin to release, giving you and your family more peace in the home. You are going to love yourself even more as you use RutaVaLa Roll-On!

Peace be with you,

Kay Lynne

Writing: One of the Keys to Gary’s Success

Not only does Gary personally sign copies of his books, but his 188-page novel "The One Gift" was entirely handwritten.

Writing is one of the keys that I attribute to my success, because I write and write and write constantly, and I do it on paper. After I’d written three or four or five chapters of The One Gift, Mary said, “Honey, Why don’t you type it in the computer so that it’s easier for me to edit?” I said, Okay. So I moved over to the computer, sat down, and typed three words—and it stopped. What does it mean when I say it stopped? The flow. When I was writing The One Gift, it was like I was watching a movie, and I was trying to write a script for the movie. But when I would put down the pen, the movie would shut off, and when I went to the computer and started to type, the movie never came on. So I went back to my writing table, picked up the pen, and the movie came on. And it was beautiful.

I write small when I’m writing, and what I would write on one 8½ x 11 yellow note paper is what translated word to word on a full typeset page in the book, and I could write 32 pages in a day. Then I could lay down the pencil and go two or three months and never pick it up again, and the moment I picked up the pencil, I didn’t have to go back to read what I had written; it picked up like a continuation and just flowed. Trying two or three different times typing versus writing was an incredible experience. When I went back and relooked at my experience and started doing research, I came to understand and recognize that the hand in motion helps you erase your emotion from the encoding or the blueprinting on the MRNA. So it is very, very specific. Write, write, write.

For 30 years I always had my patients have five notebooks, one of which was just for negative thoughts only, and they would write every negative thought, every negative feeling they had until they couldn’t even conceive of another thought. I have had patients who would fill five spiral 8½ x 11 notebooks, both sides of the pages, with their negative thoughts and feelings.

Folks, you’re not my patients, you’re my family. But I’m telling you, if you want total success, never quit writing in your negative notebook. It’s the greatest dumping ground you can have, and when you’re writing, diffuse Release and get that energy really going. Put frankincense on what’s called your “third eye,” your forehead, the crown, the locus coeruleus, which is your circuit board right here at the nape of your neck. That opens up your whole limbic system for the information exchange through the locus coeruleus to all of the regions in the brain that fire the synapses throughout the body to send and receive signals and messages.

Writing is your greatest tool for success that you can do by yourself and without paying a therapist $250 an hour.

The Healing Power of Emotions by Carl Janicek

Many years ago when I worked in a spinal and head injury rehab hospital, I was required to take a number

of interesting inservice trainings. One that stayed with me over the years was based on studying the

emotional aspects of grief. We had the task of helping patients and families work through huge life changes

and loss. My own life has been filled with these experiences recently, in part due to the long decline and death

of my own mother. She was a gentle soul and I can’t imagine why she had to endure the end of life in such

a tragic way. Since she had a long period of decline there was little shock in her passing; rather it was

the slowly numbing acceptance of the inevitable. When she did finally reach the end of her days, it was a

laborious process of watching her starve to death over the course of a week, hanging on to each breath as

if it might be her last. It was draining in ways that I couldn’t imagine. I found solace in spending time with

dear friends, family members, and of course, my trusted Young Living oils and nutritional supplements, such

as Mineral Essence and Super B. A grief model, as presented by Elizabeth Kubler-Ross in her many

writings, has five layers of emotions that are largely predictable, although the actual expression is highly unique

and deeply personal.

Denial and isolation are the first layer of emotions. I used the oils Grounding, Awaken and Gathering

for support during this time. As these layers of illusion peeled away, I felt deeply vulnerable. Anger may come next, and I found the oils Purification and Release along with Juva Tone to be of great value. Frankincense helped

me allow my ego to reconnect to my higher source. Bargaining, a form of helplessness, was offest by applying Valor for courage and strength, and Magnify Your Purpose in order to help me move forward into the unknown.

Depression, which is also suppression, with sadness, regret and separation were helped by using Valor

for coping, and Peace & Calming for the ability to rest and sleep. The final layer of Acceptance,

often crying out, was eased with the oils of Acceptance, Release and Into the Future. Using Gratitude was a

great way to appreciate the beauty of the experience. It’s God moving through us! Emotion is Energy in

Motion. Resisting feeling the grief makes the process last longer and slows the natural flow of healing the emotional

wound. Accessing and letting grief flow is key. As the process unfolds I find that my mind, body and spirit

are released from the prison of torment. I find solace not only in the plant kingdom but in the power of

prayer, meditation and the wonderful support of many good and loving friends along this rocky road.

Are They Problems or Gifts?

posted at http://www.dgaryyoung.com/blog/2012/are-they-problems-or-gifts/

You have held wondrous essential oils in your hands. Do you think that when life hands you problems, trials, and adversity, that you also have a potential gift in your hands?

When we refer to emotional healing or therapy, in many ways some are from the old school–psychiatry, psychology, anger management, neurolinguistics, modified behavior counseling, and many, many more. Every town has clinics offering ways for you to deal with your emotions and your behavior. Do you need the clinics? Are you throwing away your money?

Endorphins are pain suppressors and ecstasy inducers. Ecstasy is the antidote to a disease- and pain-free body. Pain and disease cannot live or be present in the frequency of ecstasy. Ecstasy is the highest physical vibration of the human body. Why aren’t we there? Why don’t we feel ecstasy 24/7? Because we get caught up in stuff, even though we know we’re not supposed to “sweat the small stuff.” But the stuff becomes bigger and bigger to us.

Psychosomatic–“psycho” means soul; “soma” means body. Can they be separated? No, not until you die. Emotions link mind and body, and the molecules of emotion run every system in your body. Think about it and think about the last time you had a negative emotion or you got upset about something.

For example, you received your Young Living order. You ordered the Essential 7 Kit with extra Joy, but you received ComforTone and ParaFree. What emotion did it create? After the emotion came up inside, how did your stomach feel? Did you stop and say, “Wow! This is a blessing in disguise, because I have been constipated, and the doctor I went to last week said I have parasites”? But we don’t go there, do we? We always go to the negative side first. Folks, as long as we go to the negative side first every time something comes up, how are we going to progress?

Walter Russell made a statement in 1898 or 1901 in a conference and said that you are given problems because there is never a problem without the gift for it in its hands, and you are given problems because you need the gifts. Do we look at the gifts, or do we look at the problems?
