The York Croquet Club Inc. has recognised Pat's outstanding contribution to the club and awarded her Life Membership on 31st December 2009.
Pat McGregor joined the York Croquet Club on 5th March 1983. Between 5th March 1983 and 31st December 2009, Pat held executive positions for more than 20 years. Pat was a willing worker and was one of the first to offer to do anything required for the club.
When Pat McGregor joined the York Croquet Club, only Association Croquet was played. Golf Croquet came later, and Ricochet later still. Although there were lights at the croquet club, games were held during the day on Wednesday and Saturdays, and only during the summer. The busy bee held each year in September to bring the courts up to scratch included removing a mass of wild oats from the courts. Croquet was not played during the winter at that stage because most of the members played golf.
