SPIN TOP CONTEST RULES & TRICK LIST
Following is the format for spin top contests that will be held at events like MOYO (Missouri State Yo-Yo Contest) and the Kansas State Yo-Yo Contest. The trick list is similar to the list found at the National Spin Top Contest only shorter and with slight variations to the order of the tricks past number 10. The actual format of the contest is quite diffferent however so please take the time to read over the rules carefully.
Spin Top Ladder Rules:
EQUIPMENT
Any string-wound spinning top may be used, however some tricks require the use of a fixed tip spin top (those tricks are identified in the list). Contestants may change tops between tricks.
FORMAT
Contestants will line up shoulder to shoulder in front of the Judge(s). Separate groups will be made if there are too many contestants for the contest area. There will be no age or skill level divisions unless the event coordinator determines it necessary. The order of the contestants will be determined by the Judge(s). Round 1; each player will step forward one at a time to attempt the first trick on the list, Round 2; the second trick, and so on. One attempt per trick. Any throw while in the contest area will count as an attempt. The top must spin for 3 seconds in hand at the end of each trick (except Spinner and Target). If a trick is missed or skipped there is no penalty, just no points. Players may opt out of any tricks they do not wish to attempt.
SCORING
Each trick is worth one point. The contestant with the most points at the end of the contest wins. The Judge may end the competition if two rounds pass where nobody in the group is able to complete the trick.
TIEBREAKER
If there is a tie, the player who completed the highest trick on the list is the winner. If there is still a tie then it will be the next highest completed trick on the list to determine the winner. If the tied players have completed all the same tricks, then a tie breaker will be held using tricks on the trick list and decided by the head judge.
