For a list of the tops I have made, check out my Spin Top Log

(not taking orders at this time)

Since 2010 I have been making spin tops and developing methods to increase performance and durability in home-made tops.  This experience over the years has led me to a product I can stand behind and enjoy getting into the hands of top spinners.  It has also led me to be somewhat opinionated as to what features a spin top should have.  I no longer make bearing spin tops, the bearing assembly adds a level of tediousness that I do not enjoy.  Also I do not understand the need for a bearing top on a larger spin top because larger tops are so much easier to regenerate, and so much harder to throw hard to get lots of spin.  So yeah, no.

I also stick with a narrow range of size; from 4" diameter to 5" diameter.  Any smaller and you loose the advantage of a larger spin top, you have to work faster and be more precise, and any bigger and you have to work harder as it gets cumbersome and heavy.  Also, the armor I use on the outside of the top is from 2 and 3 liter bottles, It is hard to find such an available resource for larger tops.

Sodatop

Sodatops are 4 to 5 inch diameter, fixed tip, hollow tops that are great for learning regenerations and getting used to larger tops.  They are weighted well, durable, and balanced to spin smooth and silky.  The top is made of laminated layers of scrap furniture-grade plywood.  The protective shell is a heat-shrunk 2 liter soda bottle (hence the name) and the tip is made with left over materials from a nuclear power plant!  No radiation, I just have a big leftover chunk of HDPE steam piping that a local nuclear power plant used to replace the old steel piping.
