From the Airport to Herschel and Bedson buildings– you can use either the metro(M) or the bus(B) or take a taxi.

By Metro:

    1. Airport Metro, board train from Platform 1. A+B+C zones single ticket costs £3.40.

As you will need the ticket to go to your hotel, we suggest you buy a day saver

ticket for £5.10.

    1. Ride 11 stops for 22 minutes to Haymarket.

    2. Exit the Haymarket Metro Station at Percy Street and use the pedestrian crossing to Herschel Walk leading to Herschel and Bedson Buildings (see the map for more).

By bus:

    1. Walk 10 minutes to Newcastle Airport-Ponteland Road

    2. Board bus X77 or X78 to Newcastle upon Tyne. A single ticket costs £2.50.

    3. Ride for 17 minutes (X78) or 24 minutes (X77) to Hay Market Barras Bridge

    4. Then walk for 2 minutes to Herschel Building and Bedson buildings (see the map for more).

The cost of a taxi from the Newcastle Airport to the centre of Newcastle (Herschel Building, Osborne Hotel, Motel One, Dene Hotel) is around 10-15 pounds.

From Newcastle Central station to Herschel and Bedson buildings- you can use the metro, take a taxi or walk.

By Metro

    1. Buy A zone ticket. Single ticket costs £1.80. You may need to buy a day saver ticket for £3.0 as you will still go to your hotel.

    2. Board Metro from Platform 2 and Ride 2 stops for 3 minutes to Haymarket

    3. Exit the Haymarket Metro Station at Percy Street and use the pedestrian crossing to Herschel Walk leading to Herschel and Bedson buildings (see above or the map for more).

On foot (about 15 minutes walk):Central to Herschel and Bedson route.

Explicitly:

    1. Exit Central Station at Neville Street

    2. Walk east on Neville Street

    3. Turn left to Grainger street

    4. Continue straight on Grainger Street up to Monument Tower

    5. Turn slightly to your left to Blackett Street

    6. Then turn left to Northumberland street

    7. Continue on Northumberland Street to the end and then turn left to Percy Street towards Haymarket metro.

    8. Use the pedestrian crossing and cross the road to Herschel Walk leading to Herschel Building which is by the left.

  1. Bedson building is just behind Herschel building.

Getting to Newcastle by car:

Newcastle is not an easy city to drive through, especially the first time someone comes here. The roads can be comlpicated at times and we suggest to use a navigating device while approaching our city setting your destination to Haymarket Metro Station. Parking lots can be found close to the university.
