Under re-construction

Reading the Scriptures in the original Hebrew language is beyond the grasp of the vast majority of people. It involves learning the Hebrew language, how it has changed over time, and understanding the ancient culture (and mindset). While reading the words and sentences helps, understanding their cultural context, such as Hebrew idioms, means comprehending the meanings and thoughts. There certainly is a difference between the Hebrew (eastern) and Greek (western) thinking.

Thus, using one or more reliable translations are key to understanding the Scriptures.

The Institute for Scripture Research's The Scriptures (1998) - owned - uses the Israeli Hebrew name for Yahuah and Yahusha and is generally a literal translation. Many of the names are transliterated from the Hebrew language (thus likely how they were pronounced). The Scriptures (1998) is a free module for many bible study programs and a free ePub for eReaders (thus can be converted to pdf). The Scriptures (2009) - owned - is an update to their 1998 edition (preface, pdf). I appreciate that The Scriptures (printed) is a reasonable cost, see Wayyiqra 25:14 (Leviticus 25:14).

The Halleluyah Scriptures - owned - is an updated version of The Scriptures (1993), but its translators also referred to other resources. It is more Hebraic based, using the English transliteration of many Hebrew words. "Restored Paleo Hebrew Name Scriptures, No Footnotes, No Man's Doctrines, No Paganisms, Literal Translation, Closest To The Hebrew, Not For Sale, 80% of Added Words Removed." The current version is the 2011 edition. The basic softcover is free for those who cannot afford one, and they have a variety of other aids, such as The Names Book. They also have a dramatized version of the Scriptures.

The Hebraic Roots Bible was the efforts of Don Esposito as he compared various sources and said he had the inspiration of Yahweh. He is an elder of the Congregation of YHWH, Jerusalem, which provides it as a free download (pdf) and a printed copy (suggested donation of $ 35).

Daniel Gregg's online MISB (2011) - download (zip) - is an edited version of the NASB (1977) and updated with the goal to harmonize as close as practical to the original Hebrew text. His online The Good News of Messiah (3rd ed, 2012) is a translation of the Brit Chadasha (NT) and is available in printed form ($ 22 + shipping) from Torah Times. I appreciate that Daniel Gregg has the most complete chronology of the Scriptures and is active on Facebook.

, And he meditates in His Torah day and night. 3For he shall be as a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That yields its fruit in its season, And whose leaf does not wither, And whatever he does prospers. 4The wrong are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind blows away. 5Therefore the wrong shall not rise in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6For

Psalm 1, Hebraic Roots Bible

1 Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the wicked, and has not stood in the way of sinners, and has not sat in the seat of scorners. 2 But his delight is only in the Torah of YAHWEH, and he meditates in His Torah day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivulets of waters, which will give its fruit in its seasons, and its leaf will not wither, and all which he does will prosper. 4 Not so are the wicked, but they are only as chaff which the wind drives about. 5 On account of this the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For YAHWEH is knowing the way of the righteous, and the way of the wicked shall perish.

Psalm 1, MISB/The Good News of Messiah

1 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers! 2 But his delight is in the Law of Yahweh, and in his Law he meditates day and night. 3 And he will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers. 4 The wicked are not so, but they are like chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For Yahweh knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
