The Monte Vista High School Mountain Bike Team was formed in 2009 by Monte Vista teacher Greg Blandino, who remained Head Coach of the team until the 2015-2016 season. In 2016, the team established itself as a non-profit organization under the leadership of Janice Alamillo, Deepinder Singh, and Lee Halverson.
Today, the club continues to operate as a non-profit organization, entirely staffed by parent volunteers.
We compete in cross country mountain bike races as part of the South Conference of the NorCal Cycling League (an official chapter of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association).
Our coaches strive to promote athletic, academic and social growth within the team.
Athletes can expect to spend many hours and climb thousands of vertical feet between December and May! Over this time they improve riding skills and endurance amidst a fun and supportive team environment.
Through mountain biking, athletes develop respect for the outdoors and have the opportunity to test themselves in a safe and enjoyable sport.
Ultimately, we hope to see our student athletes build a life-long love of cycling.
The Monte Vista Mountain Bike Team is completely self funded. Club Dues are the primary means of funding for the operation of the mountain bike club. Sponsorships and donations and are always welcome.
