Roll 4d6 and discard the lowest number, 6 times and assign to abilities as you prefer. -or- You can use 34 points and spread them among the 6 abilities, starting with a base 8 in each score. Whichever method you choose, these numbers will then be adjusted based on your character's race.
Your character must have a name! I would prefer a serious name in my campaigns, however a humorous name will be allowed as long as it is not Fubar or Kaybar (you prior military guys who played in my campaigns in Germany know who I am talking to), but if you don't pick a name by the second gaming session the DM will assign one.
Clerics and Paladin's must select a deity. If you don't pick one the DM will assign one. Other characters are not required to select a deity but are encouraged to do so. This campaign is being played in the World of Karildan and uses its deities. Paladin Alignments are based on the Deity they choose from the pantheon, evil aligned characters are not allowed at this time.
Clerics: A cleric’s alignment must be within one step of his deity’s
Paladins: Must match the deity
All others will start at Neutral and after a few sessions the DM will pull you aside and inform you which alignment you seem to be leaning towards.
You may select any of the following PC races from the PHB: Dwarf, Elf, Halfling, Human, Gnome, or Half-Elf. Refer to the "Character Backgrounds" PDF file below for information on races in this campaign.
You may select any of the following classes from the PHB: Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, or Wizard. Refer to the "Character Classes" PDF file below for information on classes in this campaign.
Barbarian, Monk, Paladin, Sorcerer, or Wizard classes can only be selected at first level. You cannot select one of these classes as a second or third class. Keep this in mind if you are wanting to play a multi-class character.
New Character Level
All new characters will start out at first level and with 0 experience points. EXCEPTION: If you are joining an existing campaign and any of the players have already reached 4th level or higher, you will start at the same level as the lowest level character. Your character will have the lowest number of experience points required to reach that level.
