Awards will be given to individuals who have provided exceptional professional or volunteer service to the youth of the Williamsville Central School District community.  The Award Committee will consider the duration of a nominee’s involvement, as well as the nature of his/her contributions to the school, PTA/PTSA and in the community. There is no length of service requirement. The nominee must be a member of the PTA/PTSA unit submitting the nomination. Current Williamsville School Board members are not eligible for awards.

• PROFESSIONAL: a certified and/or licensed employee of the WCSD currently working in the capacity of their certification or license

• SUPPORT STAFF: all other employees of the WCSD, including by not limited to: aide/assistant, monitor, clerical, cafeteria, maintenance or transportation staff member**

• ** These are examples, not an exclusive list

• PTA VOLUNTEER: a PTA member not employed by the nominating WCSD school.

By a vote of the majority of the Service to Youth committee, in consultation with the PTSA Council Executive Board, nominees may be moved to an alternative category in certain circumstances.  For example, a WCSD professional could be switched to the volunteer and/or support staff category should it be deemed appropriate to do so.

Each of the school PTA/PTSA units comprising the Williamsville PTSA Council has a Service to Youth representative who serves on the Award Committee. The Service to Youth representative where the nominee works or volunteers will submit the application to the Award Committee. PTA/PTSA representatives must submit all completed nominations to the Award Committee.  Information necessary to complete the nomination should be gathered CONFIDENTIALLY. The nominated individual should not be aware or his/her nomination. Self-nominations are not permitted. The unit Service to Youth Award committee representative must submit one copy of a completed nomination form to the District Service to Youth Chairperson before the appointed deadline noted on the award Nomination Outline form.

The award winners will determined by a majority vote of the Award committee. Nominees not selected will be automatically submitted the following year. PTA/PTSA units may update second-year applications at their discretion.  After two consecutive years of a nominee not being chosen, the PTA/PTSA unit representative must submit a new application.  There is not a limit to the number of times an individual can be nominated. 

The Award Committee will use the following criteria to evaluate applications: 

• YOUTH ACTIVITIES: The degree and extent of active and sustained involvement in activities that presently and in the future will benefit the youth of the district.

• LEADERSHIP: Degree to which the candidate has taken it upon him/herself to guide/direct/preside over others.

• PERSONAL GROWTH: Degree to which candidate has demonstrated foresight and courage in initiating new ideas, programs and services which benefit youth.

• COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES: Degree to which candidate has demonstrated a sustained commitment in a variety of youth related community based activities.

• LONGEVITY: Number of years of continuous service to the youth of the WCSD.

Nominees not selected as winners are eligible to be re-submitted the following year.
