Species ID
A large portion of the wildlife an airport deals with is avian in nature, but it is certainly not limited to birds alone!
In my opinion learning to identify various species of wildlife is not unlike learning to identify types of aircraft. It first requires a willingness to learn, but also requires an eye for details and repetition. Guides can help, smart phone apps can help, but nothing beats being able to hear the song of bird and identify it without even seeing it!
Species identification is key for many reasons:
Accurately reporting strikes
Accurate observation and dispersal reports
Most importantly, for accurate depredation reporting should your airport have a permit -- you need to know how many of what you're allowed to mess and to distinguish from something that might look very similar
You sound more professional than just saying, "some (LGB) little grey bird"
