Pedagogical tools are changing by the minute as a result of new technology, and it is our responsibility as educators in the 21st century to be able to work within these newly-defined boundaries. In addition, our students are changing because of these technological advances. Students, now more than ever, are incredibly tech-savvy and have are constantly coming up with new learning strategies that incorporate these skills. Personally, I believe that grabbing hold of this opportunity and implementing these resources is not only a good idea, but a necessity. By using all of our resources we have available, we are able to push the boundaries of a multimedia education further and further.
Google Classroom
When you are using Google Apps for Education, using Google Classroom makes communicating with students a snap! Google Classroom allows teachers to create groups (or classes) that students, in turn, will join. All members of the class can read announcements and details on assignments given by the teacher. When students are ready to turn in assignments, they can share a Google doc or upload a saved file. It's a great way to collaborate and share with the entire class!
Edmodo
Edmodo is a social networking platform that is perfect for the classroom. Edmodo allows teachers to post assignments, and students to turn them in. It also allows the teacher to post quizzes and polls. Find the website here - www.edmodo.com
Class Dojo
This is a class management tool that displays immediate feedback to students on their behavior. It tracks the number of positive and negative points received, and features the ability to email reports, and the ability to use a mobile device as a remote control. Find the website here - www.classdojo.com.
"The aim of education should be to teach us rather how to think, than
what to think--rather to improve our minds, so as to enable us to think for
ourselves, than to load our memory with the thoughts of other men."
~Bill Beattie
