I live in Montgomery, Texas with my wonderful husband and three beautiful children. We love living by Lake Conroe where we can enjoy plenty of water recreation - boating, swimming, and riding wave runners. The whole family loves technology, so we spend a lot of time tinkering with our digital Tinker Toys!
My name is Janet Whorton. I am a technology enthusiast and educator. I love to teach and believe that there's so many exciting tools available for educators to make learning fun, challenging, and more engaging. I want to share some my favorites in hopes that teachers will try them and love them as much as I do. So, the purpose of this website is to provide a place for teachers to discover new resources, free technology, and great ideas for integrating technology into the classroom to engage and inspire students.
Here's more about me... I teach at Lynn Lucas Middle School, and I am currently in my 11th year. I teach Technology Applications and a Yearbook class, which is responsible for publishing the school yearbook. In 2014, I was very proud to represent my campus as "Teacher of the Year." It is a real honor to be selected by my peers for this award.

I was born and raised in a small town deep in the southernmost part of Texas, Harlingen, which is just 30 miles north of the Mexican border. I am proud to be the daughter of a farming family. My dad is a farmer, just like his father and grandfather. My uncle, brother, and brother-in-law are all part our family farming tradition, fondly called Adams Farms. The Adams family was one of the first families in Harlingen, settling there in 1908. I'd say that's some deep roots!
I graduated from Harlingen High School and then attended Texas State University and earned a BBA, majoring in Computer Information Systems. After graduation, I worked at Pennzoil Company for 15 years as a Systems Analyst. After that, I worked briefly as a Web Consultant, then a real estate agent, before deciding that I really wanted to work with young people and share some of the technical knowledge that I've acquired over the years.
Teaching is what I really enjoy, and what could be more fun than teaching technology. I am so fortunate to have a job that I really enjoy. I can honestly say that I love going to work each day.
