Sharing Technology with Educators
A Learning Community for Educators
Education is changing by the minute as a result of technological advances, and it is our responsibility as educators in the 21st century to be able to work within these newly-defined boundaries. In addition, our students, now more than ever, are incredibly tech-savvy and are constantly coming up with new learning strategies that incorporate these skills. Personally, I believe that grabbing hold of this opportunity and implementing these resources is not only a good idea, but a necessity. By sharing these resources, educators become aware of the tools that available and feel comfortable using them.
Why technology in the classroom?
Students today are immersed in technology everyday of their lives - they are digital natives. Educators can't afford to let their own fears or lack of enthusiasm limit the far reaching benefits of utilizing technology to enhance the learning experience. It's almost impossible for teachers to know all there is about technology, but many times we can introduce a tool and utilize the skills of our students to sharpen our own.
Why is it a necessity?
To expand our students' view of the world by bringing content into the classroom.
To give students the tools to explore, create, share, evaluate and make good decisions.
To provide students the skills to succeed in college, succeed in jobs, and succeed in life.
Teaching in the 21st Century
The landscape of education is shifting and there is a genuine need for this change. My vision of classrooms of tomorrow have teachers facilitating students who work together with technology to discover and solve problems. Teachers and students learn and adapt together to the ever changing horizons of technology.
Embrace the Challenge
It's not the technology that will make the difference, but the teacher. Brilliant teachers will utilize the engaging powers of technology to create an experience that is full of discovery, excitement, and fun in the classroom.
"Teachers will not be replaced with technology, but teachers who don't use technology will be replaced with those who do."
