In 2004, the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance surveyed local companies and found the Pittsburgh region has approximately 250 foreign-owned firms operating nearly 400 establishments, with the strongest presence from Germany (70 companies and 114 offices), United Kingdom (42 companies) and Japan (25 companies).
