Advancement
The Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class ranks are mainly skill-based and can be earned as quickly as the scout can master the requirements and the troop can validate his mastery of them. If they'd like, scouts can master material outside of scout activities and have their mastery validated and signed off.
The Star, Life and Eagle ranks are mainly leadership-based and have requirements where the scout must serve in a leadership position for 4-6 months depending on the rank. The Eagle rank requires planning and executing a project which demonstrates his acquired leadership skills. Eagle Scout must be earned before turning 18.
Scouts will advance at their own pace and not every scout will earn Eagle Scout. Scouts who invest time working on advancement and developing as a leader will have a higher likelihood of achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Scouts are encouraged to actively monitor and drive their advancement.
