What we are knitting / crocheting

We like our members to be able to knit or crochet anything that they choose and will enjoy working on, and that will be of value to one of our current charities. Expert or novice, you are welcome!

Making items for our charities is rewarding. Here is a letter from a recipient's family. The blanket was made by one of our members.

"The family would like to say a big Thank you to all of you. We recently placed Elaine my 91 year old mother-in-law at a Nursing Home in Kanata. It was a very difficult day on the family the day we brought Elaine to the Home but then we saw the nice colorful blanket on the bed and we thought that someone cared and that it would be OK. Elaine has it on her bed every night and has it on her legs for heat during the day.

Elaine has dementia now but she has been living in Kanata since 1966 and was an avid knitter, artist and old fashioned rug hooker. She would knit blankets for babies at the hospitals and overseas. We are surely happy that it came back to her full circle.

Thank you again". (name withheld by request)

Ravelry is a useful knitters website for free patterns and information. There are many other knitting and crocheting websites available that provide patterns and information on how to knit and crochet.

Members have made slip-on slippers, hats, mitts, gloves, scarves, or sets, baby outfits and baby blankets, children's and adult sweaters, lap blankets, twiddlemuffs, and soft toys.

Afghans are also popular.

These beautiful afghans were put together with squares made by the group.
